Neon Splash Nails

The third prompt of the Glam Nails June Challenge is neon. It’s such a general theme that I wasn’t sure what to do at first. Originally I tried colorful neon stripes, but I wasn’t satisfied with it so I started over. I pared down the amount of polishes I was using from five to just three: Salon Perfect Yowza YellowSalon Perfect Pink-y Swear, and Salon Perfect Bermuda Baby, a sky blue. For the accent glitter, I used Art Club Nail Art Fine Gold.

To get the look of the abstract rainbow, I applied each of the three polishes in quick strokes using the brushes over a white base. I then added more layers until I was happy with how the colors mixed. In person they’re very bright and slightly darker.

For the Neon Snowflakes prompt, I decided to go with a neon background instead of making the snowflakes neon.  Continue reading

31DC2016 Glitter – Rainbow French Tips

31dc2016glitter

I used so many polishes for this nail art! I was trying to go for a jelly sandwich look by applying the sequins in between layers of sheer polish. I think it worked best for darker colors like the turquoise and purple. To give it more depth I also added fine glitter in the corresponding colors. It doesn’t look exactly how I wanted, but I still like the design. It’s simple and easy to do, but it looks really striking.

Rainbow Gradient Star Nails

rainbowgradientstarnails

I’m so happy with these nails, they turned out way better than I expected. I only used three colors for the gradient: Sparitual Dreamsicle, a hot pink; Salon Perfect Yowza Yellow, a neon yellow; and Sinful Colors Grecian Sun, a medium blue. I sponged them in that order to create the orange and green transitions.

The most time-consuming part was drawing the stars. I used my Sally Hansen I Love Nail Art Pen Black. I wasn’t going to draw the stars on my right hand since I thought they would look messy, but they turned out pretty good. I also wasn’t too worried because I knew the rhinestones would cover up any imperfections. Some of the rhinestones fell off by the time I had a chance to take photos, but most stayed on for the three days I wore the design.

31DC2015 Rainbow – Ice Cream Treats

I love ice cream, especially on my nails! I’m really proud of how this mani turned out. (By the way, if you want more ice cream nails, you can check these out!) I used Pure Ice Super Star for the white base, and Funky Fingers Jawbreaker for the glitter accent nail. I haven’t used this polish much, but it’s such a great combination of colors and glitters. I did apply it over the white, since I wasn’t sure how many coats I’d need. The glitter is pretty dense though, so I only ended up doing two coats.

For the ice cream cones I applied two polishes: Essie Case Study and a lighter beige polish which doesn’t have a name. The rest of the colors are:

Sparitual Dreamsicle
Orly Crush On You
Revlon Parfumerie Sunlit Grass
Ciaté Apple & Custard
Piggy Polish Blue-ming Romance
Essie Full Steam Ahead

31DC2014 Rainbow: Flecks of Color

With today’s challenge, I wanted to do something that would be similar to the design I did for Black & White, but in color. Actually, I thought Rainbow came before Metallic, so I was a bit disappointed when I checked and realized it was the other way around. This looks messy in the purple and red parts, because the top coat I used smeared some of the color (it was Ciaté Speed Coat Pro by the way, which came with the Flower Manicure Kit).

The gold base is Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Go For Gold, and over that I applied Maybelline Color Show Sequins Gold’s Night Out, an amazing gold glitter polish with some holo effect. I then drew triangle shapes with a white nail art striper, filled them in, and applied the colors over that. The green is Icing True Beauty, and the rest of the polishes are by Sinful ColorsGrecian Sun (blue), Let’s Talk (purple), and Hot & Sour (red).

31 Day Challenge 2013: Polka Dots

I’m pretty happy with how these turned out. Although next time, I think I’d make the dots smaller. I used a lot of colors for this design:
Kleancolor Metallic Orange, Metallic Pink, Metallic Aqua, Metallic Yellow, Metallic Green, Metallic Purple
Funky Fingers Sand & Stilettos, Confetti

31 Day Challenge 2013: Rainbow

I’m really happy with how this design turned out! It’s my first real attempt at doing drips. The polishes I used are:
Sinful Colors Innocent (green)
Sinful Colors Paradise (blue)
Sinful Colors Cabana (red)
Sinful Colors Clementine (orange)
Covergirl vio-last (purple)
On my left hand, I used yellow (Kleancolor Neon Yellow) instead of purple.
