Tropical Foil Nail Art

The weather’s still a little cool in my area, but I really wanted to do some Summer-inspired tropical nails. These are loosely based (mainly the plants) on this esNAIL design. Instead of using pearls, I incorporated gold foil. Although I have nail art foil, this time I used Heidi Swapp Foil Flakes. I actually bought these with the intention of using them in my bullet journal, and it wasn’t until I got home that I realized these were practically identical in both shade and texture to my nail art foil flakes.

For the background, I dabbed on OPI Color Paints Primarily Yellow, Turquoise Aesthetic, and Pen & Pink using a sponge. I like how they blended, but I was hoping for a more pastel look, and they turned out too dark. As for the palms and flowers, I used various nail art polishes and some of my Sally Hansen nail art pens. The palms looked good in the beginning, but I kept trying to make them better, and they just got messier. Next time I’ll have to stop myself from overdoing it on a design! But, overall I’m pretty happy with these nails.

Metallic Blue Ribbon Accent Nails

Pretty simple and quick nails. I really wanted to wear Kleancolor Metallic Aqua and added a couple  more touches to give it some pop. I really love the polishes from Kleancolor’s metallic collection – the shades are super vivid and look great on the nails. On top of the blue I added two coats of Milani Jewel Fx Fuchsia. The glitter’s not that dense, but that’s the look I was going for, so I didn’t layer on the polish too much or sponge it on. For a final touch, I added gold ribbon studs I bought on ebay. They’re very cute and I love them as a focal point for the design.

Beauty and the Beast Roses Nail Art

This is the nail art I did on my right hand for the Beauty and the Beast inspired nails. I think I like this one even more than my other design!  Continue reading

Beauty and the Beast Silhouettes Nail Art

Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney princess movie, so I was super excited to go see the live-action version last week and did these nails for the occasion!  Continue reading

Neon Blue Nail Art

I wanted to do a neon blue design for a while, but I couldn’t find any neon blue that I liked. Salon Perfect Bermuda Baby is a bright turquoise with subtle blue shimmer. I applied it over a white base, and it took about 3 coats for full opacity. It’s not exactly what I wanted, but it’s pretty close.

I used a zebra pattern stencil for the accent nail, and applied Kleancolor Sangria Burst, a neon orange, and Kleancolor Bikini Green. I tried mixing the colors in the middle for a gradient effect, but the green just isn’t dark enough to stand out against the blue properly. For the middle and thumb nails, I used Born Pretty Mirror Nail Polish for the diagonal accent design. Now, for it to actually work, I had to first apply the base/top coat that comes with it over the blue before using the mirror polish on top of that.

The two silver glitters are: Art Club Nail Art Iridescent Glitter and Kiss Nail Art Rock Star.

Sunflowers Nail Art

It’s still super cold out, but I’m already thinking about Spring! I meant to post these much sooner since I did them a while ago, but I was pretty busy during February. Anyway, I’m loving this Zoya polish! It’s called Zoya Annie, and it’s an orange with golden shimmer. Before adding the flowers, I wore it alone for a few days. Normally I don’t think orange suits my skin tone, but I think this color works well, maybe because of the shimmer.

For the sunflowers, I used acrylic paint – first using white to paint the shapes, then adding the colors on top so they could stand out more. I like this effect because it almost looks like I added stickers to my nails, but they’re actually painted.

Distressed Pineapple Nail Art

pineapplenails1

A quick pineapple design I did using some nail polishes from the new Ciaté Mini Mani Month advent calendar. I really like the distressed look of the pink and green nails. The index finger is my favorite since I used a green base instead of pink, so the design looks darker and grungier.

This is the second design in my summer nail art series. I knew I wanted to do a beach, and I definitely wanted to use some tint nail polishes to create a watery gradient.  Continue reading
